Wee to make a comeback in Wangsa Maju?

The former DAP and PKR MP says the incumbent has failed his constituents.
KUALA LUMPUR: Former Wangsa Maju MP Wee Choo Keong is considering standing in the coming general election, saying people in the constituency have not been served well.
Speaking to FMT, Wee, who won Wangsa Maju as a PKR candidate in the 2008 polls, said he had been meeting constituents in the last three months.
“I have been receiving calls from the people about how their MP has been neglecting them. They say there’s been no service, so I took it upon myself to serve them as I have before,” he said.
In the 2008 general election, Wee beat MCA’s Yew Teong Look. Two years later, he quit PKR, citing his disappointment with the Selangor government’s handling of the Dengkil sand mining scandal.
“Even as an independent, I believe I served the people of Wangsa Maju well, there were few problems as I always kept Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) on their toes, and to be fair, they responded to my criticisms and looked after the area.”
The Kelantan-born Wee was the Bukit Bintang MP when he was with DAP. He fell out with the party during his second term as MP. After his explusion from DAP, he set up the Malaysian Democratic Party, contesting in the 1999 and 2004 general elections but failing to win any seats.
Wee told FMT that he was never afraid to speak up, including on the controversial Malaysia Airlines (MAS) and AirAsia share swap.
“I made it my crusade. I highlighted the issue and pursued it relentlessly in the Dewan Rakyat because the biggest losers would be the public.”
The share swap deal in Aug 2011 was later scrapped.
Wee said he did not want to criticise the Wangsa Maju incumbent from PKR, Tan Kee Kwong, “because I felt he should be given the freedom to do what is best”.
“But now that Parliament has been dissolved, it’s time for the people to review their MPs report card.”
Among others, Wee said Kee Kwong had failed to attend to problems faced by Wangsa Maju constituents.
Speculation has been rife that PKR will replace Kee Kwong with former international trade and industry ministry parliamentary secretary Tan Yee Kew.
“If this is what the opposition is offering to the people of Wangsa Maju, I must admit that I’m concerned they won’t be served well again because Yee Kew doesn’t have a good service record in Klang when she was MP.”  Mkini
