Jaafar quits and decides to rejoin Amanah in 48 hours

Within 48 hours of his exit, former Selangor Amanah election bureau chief Jaafar Samsudin has decided to re-join the party.

His decision comes after meeting with Amanah president Mohamad Sabu in Shah Alam this morning.

“Insya-Allah I will send an application letter to return to Amanah latest by today,” said the former Kota Raja Amanah chief.

On April 18, Jaafar had quit with immediate effect over Mohamad reportedly being parachuted into his area.

Jaafar had claimed that Amanah grassroots wanted a local candidate and that Mohamad should have met with him first if he wanted to contest in Kota Raja.

He met with Mohamad, who is better known as Mat Sabu, at a hotel in Shah Alam around 10.30am.

The meeting appeared to be casual, as Mat Sabu and Jaafar were seen having a long conversation over breakfast together.

Meanwhile, Mat Sabu told reporters later that Jaafar’s exit from the party is a normal occurrence in the world of politics.

“If we are satisfied with everything, that would be weird. There must be something that is flawed and we should pay more attention to this admonishment from Jaafar.

“But this is a normal occurrence in politics. I have been (in politics) for more than 40 years, so it is normal for a human who is working and not just sitting around,” he added.

The Amanah president also pointed out that similar incidents have happened in Umno as well.

“For me, this is normal criticism, not an act of betraying the party or anything.

“In the old Umno, (former deputy premier) Musa Hitam resigned, then came back and there are many more (examples) in political history,” he added.

Jaafar joined PAS in 1998 and held the position of Selangor PAS election director from 2002 to 2015.

He then left PAS in 2016 to join Amanah.

Previously, Jaafar was a member of Umno and Semangat 46 and has worked under former Selangor menteri besar Harun Idris. - Mkini
