Azmin: Selangor funds unaffected by Syabas-Splash case

The Selangor state government has assured its funds will not be affected by the RM4.21 billion case brought on by Syarikat Pengeluaran Air Sungai Selangor Sdn Bhd (Splash) against Syarikat Bekalan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Syabas).
Caretaker Selangor menteri besar Mohamed Azmin Ali (above) insisted the case had no connection with the state government or its funds.
“It is Syabas who is being sued, not the Selangor government. It does not have any link to the state government’s funds.
"There is no connection with the state government or the state funds,” he said, according to a report by The Star.
As Syabas was the one being sued by Splash, he said, Syabas would have to defend itself in court.
Azmin's comments came after Selangor BN chairperson Noh Omar called out the caretaker menteri besar's silence over the case, saying the people had a right to know if the state government was at risk of "bankruptcy".
On April 9, Splash, a 40 percent subsidiary of Gamuda Bhd, served a writ together with a statement of claim to Syabas claiming a total of RM4.22 billion worth of outstanding payments allegedly owed to it by the latter. -Mkini
