Noh: Selangor gov’t has turned state football team into refugees

Selangor Umno chief Noh Omar is of the opinion that the state government has turned the football team into refugees in their own state.
He said the Selangor football team had to push aside their intention to use the Shah Alam Stadium as its official venue for the Malaysian Super League.
“We have fought for the Shah Alam Stadium to be given to The Red Giants to encourage the sporting spirit among youths in Selangor.
“But once again, The Red Giants who are supposed to use the Shah Alam Stadium have become refugees in their own state,” said Noh in his speech at the launching ceremony of the Gerakan Belia 4B Malaysia day in Sepang today.
The Selangor football team had to use other stadiums after they faced difficulty in getting permission to use the Shah Alam Stadium following a conflict between the state government and state football association.
The team, however, managed to get a new home venue after getting the green light to use the Bukit Jalil National Stadium.
It was also reported that chances of the Selangor football team returning to use the Shah Alam Stadium were not totally lost.
The New Straits Times quoted Selangor’s permanent committee chairperson for youth development, sports, culture and entrepreneurial development, Amirudin Shari in December last year as saying there was still room for discussion between the state government and the Selangor Football Association in relation to the use of Stadium Keramat as the home venue for The Red Giants squad.
Meanwhile, Noh today also claimed that the youths in Selangor have been neglected following BN’s defeat in the last two general elections.
This is because various facilities for youths had purportedly been withdrawn by the state government, he claimed.- Mkini
