I'm 'kurang ajar' because of Dr M, says Nazri

He may be seen as "kurang ajar" (rude) sometimes, but that's because of Dr Mahathir Mohamad, said Tourism and Culture Minister Mohamed Nazri Aziz.

"Mahathir, when he was the prime minister and Umno president, he said all the good things.

"He (Mahathir) used to teach me what I need to do. I became a minister at the age of 44, I served five years under his administration.

"All that he has taught me, including if I'm considered rude sometimes, is what he taught me. So do not be mad at me," said Nazri at the #Perjuangan4All dialogue session in Kuala Krai, Kelantan, last night.

The Padang Rengas MP was replying to a question on the differences between Mahathir's and Najib Abdul Razak's current administrations.

According to Nazri, it was Mahathir, who now chairs Bersatu, who taught him to work for the race, and for all Malaysians.

"Until now, I follow what he had taught me, but when he does things which are not 'right' now, I cannot stay quiet.

"This is because I'm still alive, and I still remember. That is why I can 'attack' him, he knows I know.

"A lot of things that Mahathir is doing now, if we had done during his time as prime minister, he would have 'beheaded' us," said Nazri.

A debate session was previously supposed to be held between Mahathir and Nazri but it was called off after the police denied a permit, citing public security concerns.- Mkini
