Police summon Zaid to record statement

Former minister Zaid Ibrahim has been summoned by police to record a statement at Bukit Aman tomorrow morning.
Zaid told Malaysiakini that he believed that this is related to the tweets he posted on Dec 5 on Selangor ruler Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah.
However, he said the police didn't tell him which law he was being investigated under.
"No, I don't know (which law), I just got a message (for me) to go there. It doesn't matter, I will go and answer the question," said the DAP member.
"I think the police must investigate because a lot of people had lodged complaints and it had become a public issue.
"The police have to check whether I breached the law, so they have to listen to my explanation. I think it is okay," he said.
He maintained that he had done nothing wrong and there was no element of sedition in his tweets.
In an interview with The Star published on Dec 5, the Selangor ruler had called Pakatan Harapan chairperson Dr Mahathir Mohamad an "angry" man who would raze the country.
Zaid tweeted on the same day that the Selangor ruler “should careful with his words”, and that “no one is immune when the country burns”.
His comment was slammed by Umno leaders but Zaid was adamant he had not done anything wrong.
Inspector-General of Police Mohamad Fuzi Harun has, however, confirmed that Zaid is being probed under the Sedition Act 1948 and the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.- Mkini
