Man nabbed for having eight marijuana plants on condo balcony

Police have detained a 33-year-old Iranian man who allegedly planted eight trees, believed to be marijuana, at a condominium in Cheras.
Kuala Lumpur police chief Amar Singh Ishar Singh said the suspect was nabbed last Wednesday when the police raided his condominium unit at 6.40pm following a public tip-off.
"This is a first case of such in the city. Upon inspection, police found green-leaf trees of between 0.2 to 1.3 metres high on his balcony.
"Initial investigations revealed that the suspect is a medical student from Iran and has been in the country for the past two years. He is also believed to have brought in the seeds from his home country three months ago," Amar Singh told a press conference at the city police headquarters in Kuala Lumpur today.
He said the suspect had been remanded for two days from yesterday to facilitate investigation under Section 6(B) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
In a separate raid at an apartment in Bukit Ceylon in Kuala Lumpur, the police detained two local men and an Indonesian woman, aged between 24 and 25, on suspicion of involvement in drug trafficking.
"In the 5.30pm raid, the police also seized eight large packets and six transparent plastic packets containing methamphetamine (syabu) weighing 3.37 kilogrammes.
"Apart from that, a CZ Rami P9C19 pistol and 40 live bullets were also seized from the suspects," he said, adding that the total seizure was estimated at RM430,000.
The police have also confiscated their three luxury cars and frozen their cash and assets worth RM599,000.
He said all the suspects were unemployed and had been remanded for seven days from yesterday.
